Once upon a time...
A good story must start with a solid beginning
Here we are. A beginning.
Today is the same length as the 8,670 I’ve lived thus far, surrounded by a place I have known for my whole existence. Still, I’ve decided to mark it. Make it something more than what it typically might appear to have been on the surface. A beginning.
Over the past several months I have felt a pressure on my pre-frontal cortex, along with a shift in how I have interacted with the world around me. For those who might not know, I am in the age where that part of my brain starts to morph and change again. It’s strange yet excites me; the mornings are start, projects I’ve been meaning to do are getting done sooner and with more thought out plans, time with friends is being worked out days/weeks in advance instead of hours out, energy levels are increasing to be active outside, my relationship with how I interact with the natural world and with myself have been nurtured in ways I wasn’t expecting nor known were in need of attention. From these experiences, I’ve decided to be more, do more than I have before in ways that fill my life with joy and gratitude.
So, here we are; at the precipice of the next chapter/adventure in life.
Having stood at the start of dozens of trailheads and at the base of many climbs, I’ve learned on countless occasions that the best laid plans fall apart in an instant (psst; did you notice the helicopter in the last post, it’s from a backcountry evacuation I helped coordinate this past summer, yes, everyone came out okay and with smiles on their faces:), yet we still set out with tasks to accomplish and a plan in place. As the name I originally chose for this blog insinuates, I have been wandering around the world for some time. While my curiosity for exploring this wondrous world we share will not fade, I do see the wandering start to become more directed. While chase is just on the brink, the past informs the future. With a past already filled with adventures and good company, I hope this year to come will be a chapter that I can hold close to my heart.
New goals have been set, a path being charted, paths unfolding as I take each step forward. You’ll be seeing more of me here (most likely less on other socials), so keep an eye out for another selection of words I publish and make sure you’re subscribed to my account (it’s free)!
